Endgame for Uddhav Thackeray? Guv Orders Floor Test Tomorrow

- June 29, 2022

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray faces a floor test tomorrow. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has written to the Assembly Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat calling for a special session at 11 am for Mr. Thackeray to prove his majority.

The rebel MLAs led by Eknath Shinde, who are staying at a five-star hotel in Assam’s Guwahati, will have return to Mumbai to participate in the floor test.

Mr Shinde and some Sena MLAs went to a temple this morning in Assam’s main city by the Brahmaputra River where he told reporters he would return to Mumbai tomorrow.

“The Leader of Opposition…personally visited me…I was briefed about the political situation in the state and thereafter the Leader of Opposition submitted a letter stating that Chief Minister has lost the majority in Vidhan Sabha,” the Governor said in the letter.

The Governor said that the only agenda of the House, which will convene at 11 am tomorrow, will be the floor test. “The present political scenario unfolding in the state presents a very disturbing picture. As many as 39 MLAs have shown desire to exit the MVA government. Seven independent MLAs have also sent a letter by email withdrawing their support. The Leader of Opposition also met and briefed me on the prevailing situation and asked for a floor test,” Koshyari said.
