A Coimbatore-based businessman conducted a baby shower (Vlakkappu) party for his two Persian cats at a pet clinic in RS Puram in the city on Sunday.
The cats, Kshira who has reached 50 th day of its pregnancy, and Irish were completing their 35th day of pregnancy and their owner Uma Maheswaran decided to conduct the baby shower party at the pet clinic showing affection to his pets. Veterinary doctor Venugopal was the chief guest for the function.
It is to be noted that a baby shower is generally conducted for pregnant women praying for the health of the baby and mother and inviting relatives and friends and conduct a party.
Uma Maheswaran while speaking to BPNS said, “ In our culture baby shower is conducted for pregnant women praying for the health of the mother and child and conduct a feast for family and friends. Here we have taken this up for our pet cats, Kshira and Irish and I hope that the Persian cats and their kittens are well and good during the pregnancy and delivery.”
He also said that the family used to give quality food like chicken, tuna, milk, and dry foods to the Persian cats. Uma Maheswaran also said that the family regularly takes the pets to the veterinary doctor.
