Chennai, July 15 (BPNS)
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam who is fighting a bitter power struggle in AIADMK against Edappadi K. Palaniswami has expelled 40 functionaries of AIADMK including former ministers.
In a statement on Friday, OPS said that the functionaries including former ministers had acted against the party principles and brought disrepute to the party. He called upon the party cadres to stay away from the ousted leaders.
It may be noted that after Edappadi K. Palaniswami had expelled his two sons and 16 other supporters, OPS expelled 22 leaders including Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Almost all senior leaders of the AIADMK including former ministers K.P. Munuswamy, Dindigul C. Sreenivasan, C. Vijayabhaskar, CVe Shanmugham stand expelled from the party.
With the July 11, general council meeting of AIADMK giving full control to Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the actions of O. Panneerselvam will not have much impact as he does have support from only 2 percent of the party general council members.
