R Mahendran relieved of all his posts in MNM

Chennai, May 7(BPNS)

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) headed by Super star turned politician Kamal Haasan has relieved former party Vice president R Mahendran from all party posts. Santhosh Babu, party secretary in charge of MNM headquarters in a statement said that Mahendran is relieved of all his responsibilities and positions in the party.

Santhosh Babu also said in the statement that the party general secretaries had taken responsibilities on the party’s poll debacle and resigned from their posts and denied rumours that these leaders had quit the party. He also said that it was for party president Kamal Haasan to take a decision on these leaders.

Mahendran had submitted his resignation on Thursday and told the media that Kamal Haasan had listened to the advice of an external consulting agency resulting in the heavy poll debacle for the party.

Kamal Haasan had in turn termed Mahendran as “Betrayer” and said that he was a “Stumbling block” to the growth of several hard working party cadres.

MNM faced a crisis following the poll debacle as every party candidate lost in the electoral hustings which was almost a direct fight between the DMK led front and the AIADMK led front. Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam(AMMK) leader TTV Dhinakaran had also lost the elections from Kovilpatti seat.
