Ravindra Narayan Ravi or R.N. Ravi IPS( Rtd) , Kerala cadre will be sworn in as the 26th Governor of Tamil Nadu on Saturday. The Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice Sanjib Banerjee will administer the oath of office to him. The swearing-in will take place at the lawns of the Raj Bhawan at 10.30 am.
Ravi was born in Patna in Bihar and holds a Post Graduate Degree in Physics and had a small stint as a journalist in New Delhi before getting the IPS. He was a Kerala cadre IPS officer.
He had worked with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Intelligence Bureau.
An official release from Rajbhavan, Tamil Nadu said that Ravi had specialised in the dynamics of human migration in South Asia and had worked extensively on the political sociology of the border population,
The NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed him as the interlocutor for peace talks with the Nagas in 2014 and was appointed Deputy National Security advisor in 2018. He was posted as Governor of Nagaland in 2019.
He had also coordinated with various Central agencies to meet the intelligence needs of the country.
