Tamil comedian Pandu passes away due to Covid

Chennai, May 6(BPNS)

Tamil Comedian Pandu( 74) passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday following Covid related ailments. He was at the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital here along with his wife who is still under Intensive care treatment.

Pandu’s acting career commenced with his first movie, Maanavan in 1970. He has acted in several super hit movies including,  “Pokkiri”, “Ezhayin Sirippil”, “ Kadhal Kottai” and “Gilli”.“Indha Nilai Maarum” was his last movie.

Pandu was into business and was running a design company, “Capital Letters” and has designed the flag of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK). He was also behind the design of the Tamil Nadu tourism logo.

Another noted Tamil comedian Vivekh had succumbed to a massive heart attack on April 17, 2021 and the passing away of Pandu is a major loss to the Tamil movie industry.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Chief Minister designate MK Stalin ,BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan and Makkal Needhi Maiam(MNM) leader and super star of South Indian films, Kamal Haasan expressed grief over the passing away of Pandu.
