Tamil language paper compulsory for government jobs in TN

The Tamil Nadu government has made Tamil language paper compulsory for getting state  government jobs under the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has also made Tamil language paper a must for getting teacher jobs.

Tamil Nadu finance minister Palanivel Thiagarajan in a statement on Monday said that this was to ensure the 100% participation of Tamil people for government jobs in the state.

Tamil Nadu government will also increase the reservation for women in government jobs from 30% to 40%. The minister said that a bill for increasing reservations for women in government, jobs would be introduced in the assembly and said that Gender equality is an important aspect for the DMK government in the state.

Palanivel Thiagarajan in the statement said that priority for government jobs would be given to those candidates who have lost both the parents due to Covid -19. He also said that the upper age limit for securing government jobs in the state of Tamil Nadu would be increased by 2 years due to the delay in recruitment caused by the pandemic.

Anna Institute of Management will be installed with two transformers with a capacity of 500 KVA each for uninterrupted power supply to the institute, the minister in the statement said. 

He said that Anna Institute of Management will be offering training for government employees, including government school teachers, secondary school teachers , higher secondary school headmasters, Anganwadi employees and those who have not received any formal training.

The statement also said that houses for the employees of Anna Institute of Management will be constructed at a cost of  Rs 3.5 crore.
