Tamil Nadu state president of the BJP, K. Annamalai has welcomed the decision of the state Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin on reopening temples and all other religious places on all days. The Chief Minister had in a high-level meeting on Thursday announced that temples would open on all days and the earlier order of closing temples on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays stand nullified.
The Tamil Nadu BJP has been at the forefront of agitation to reopen temples with the party conducting protest marches across the state. Senior leaders including former Union minister, Pon Radhakrishnan inaugurated the protest marches that were held in front of famous temples.
State President K. Annamalai, former state president C.P. Radhakrishnan, former national secretary, H. Raja also participated in the protest marches held on October 7.
The state president in a statement on Friday said that the protest of the BJP has become a success following the Chief Minister announced the opening of temples and other religious places on all days.
K. Annamalai in the statement said, “We have been demanding the reopening of temples and other religious places and we had given an ultimatum to the state government to either take a decision on reopening of all religious places within 10 days on October 7. Now the government has announced the reopening of temples and all other religious places.”
The BJP after its political alliance with the AIADMK has done well in Tamil Nadu and has now four MLA’s in the state assembly. The success of the protest march before the temples on October 7 will be highlighted by the BJP at the grass-root level.
