Tamil Nadu Director General of Police, C. Sylendra Babu has called for evoking National Security Act (NSA) against those disrupting public harmony. The statement of the DGP came after the increase in molotov cocktail attacks on the premises of RSS functionaries in various parts of Tamil Nadu following the arrest of Popular Front of India (PFI) activists.
The DGP after a review meeting with the District Superintendents of Police/ Commissioners called for protecting places of worship and sensitive locations as also soft targets. The DGP held the review meeting after series of Molotov cocktail attacks on the premises of RSS, BJP functionaries in various parts of Tamil Nadu after the arrest of Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders and workers during a raid on September 22, Thursday.
It may be noted that the sleuths of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) had searched 93 locations in 15 states of the country in the houses of top PFI leaders as well as offices of the PFI and SDPI. 11 people including PFI national executive committee member , A.M. Ismail were arrested from Tamil Nadu.
The petrol bomb, kerosene bombs were hurled at the residences of RSS, BJP, Hindu organization functionaries at Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram, Erode, Salem, and Pollachi since Thursday after the arrests.
The DGP called upon the district superintendents/ commissioners to seize the CCTV visuals at the crime scene and interrogate the suspects identified in the visuals.
C. Sylendrababu also instructed the police officers to intensify night patrolling and vehicle checks across the state.
