TN ranked second in health index by Niti Aayog

The think tank of the Government of India, Niti Aayog has ranked the state of Tamil Nadu second in the health parameters after Kerala which continued with its position of number one. Telangana state follows Tamil Nadu for the third place, according to a statement from the Government of India body.

Interestingly Uttar Pradesh was ranked last by Niti Aayog in the fourth round of the health index study conducted by the Government of India body.

The reference year for the fourth round of the health index was the period 2019-20.

AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister Edappadi K . Palaniswami while commenting on the report told media persons,” A slew of measures taken by the AIADMK led Tamil Nadu government during its ten-year regime has catapulted Tamil Nadu into this position. Health parameters coming to the top is an indication of better administration and we are proud that it was due to certain strict measures taken by our government that has given the state of Tamil Nadu this moment.”

Among smaller states, Mizoram emerged as the best state among the small states in overall performance as well as incremental performance.

The state of Uttar Pradesh ranked first in the incremental performance by registering the highest incremental change from the base year (2018-19) to the reference year (2019-20).

Niti Aayog has prepared the report in association with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the World Bank.
