A 22-year-old youth who had stabbed a school-going girl for rejecting his love request was found dead near a railway track at Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The deceased youth identified as Kesavan had stabbed the 11th standard school-going girl near Tiruchi railway station on Tuesday in broad daylight.
The girl who received 14 stab injuries is battling for life at Tiruchi government medical college hospital..
Police said that the girl is seriously injured and has several stab injuries on her body including on the neck.
Kesavan was accused in a Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses (Pocso) case for having kidnapped the same girl in 2021. Police said that Kesavan had just come out of jail after serving prison term in the Pocso case.
According to Manaparai police that is investigating the case, Kesavan had proposed to her on a fateful day while the girl was going to a relative’s home and when she spurned his request, an infuriated youth stabbed her recklessly hurting the girl severely. The man absconded immediately after the gruesome act.
Police were tracing Kesavan from Tuesday onwards and found his dead body at the railway track near Manaparai, Tiruchi. A case has been registered and an investigation begun.
