Vikram ,the come back movie of Super star Kamal Haasan written and directed by Logesh Kanakaraj is a movie in which the star recieved relatively little screentime before pre- interval.
In reality, Kamal Haasan loses all of his heroics in Vikram, while Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi steal the show in the first half. Vijay Sethupathi is the one who gets a heroic introduction. Though I believe Vijay Sethupathi’s character could have been a bit more fleshed out.
The second half, on the other hand, provides all Kamal fans with one clap-worthy moment after another. There is a powerful emotional foundation, similar to Kaithi, that is combined with outstanding, elegant action blocks that make your jaw drop.
Anirudh’s engrossing background tune adds to the moment’s appeal. The film’s background score has a lot of variety, which is a big plus. Not only that, but with Vikram, Lokesh has built his own film universe, which has the potential to be expanded now that Suriya has joined the cast.
The cinematography of Girish Gangadharan, editor Philomin Raj’s cuts, and mind-blowing stunts by Anbariv deserve equal credit. Ultimately, the narrative and performances keep the film on a high level for the most part, and the soundtrack and cinematography only add to our enjoyment. The referential nature of the film might seem slightly overdone but still, it’s fun. There are times here and there when you wish Kamal Haasan appeared more often. But Vikram is entertaining and engaging, worth seeing more than once, and 173 minutes of adrenaline rush. After all, it’s not very often you see a star/actor giving a fitting big-screen comeback at the age of 67!
The movie written and directed by Logesh Kanakaraj was produced by Raaj Kamal Films International. Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil star in the film, which also have Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Gayathrie Shankar, and others. Suriya has also made a cameo appearance. Girish Gangadharan shot the film while Anirudh Ravichander composed the soundtrack.
Lokesh Kanagaraj is a passionate Kamal Haasan admirer, and his films have all been heavily influenced by his favourite actor.
