Virginia is set to welcome visitors in 2025 with a vibrant lineup of new attractions, accommodations, culinary offerings, and historical commemorations.

The Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with a multi-year series of special events, exhibits, and interactive experiences leading up to the nation’s 250th birthday in 2026.

Give Me Liberty, the first major exhibition of its kind in the nation, will be a 5,000-square-foot showcase on display at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown from 2025 through 2027.

At St. John’s Church in Richmond, where Patrick Henry delivered his iconic “Give me liberty or give me death” speech during the Second Virginia Convention, VA250 will present historical reenactments—both in person and livestreamed at va250.org—to bring that pivotal moment to life.

2025 marks the 100th annual Chincoteague Pony Swim and Auction, happening July 30–31. A cherished Eastern Shore tradition since 1925, the event supports the care of wild ponies roaming the region’s marshes. Highlights include a sunrise beach walk, the iconic pony swim guided by the Saltwater Cowboys, nightly carnivals, and community festivities.

Virginia’s Blue Ridge region will host the USA Cycling Endurance Mountain Bike National Championships in both 2025 and 2026. The seven-day event in July will feature more than 1,500 athletes competing across trails at Explore Park, Elmwood Park in Roanoke, and Carvins Cove, offering spectacular spectating opportunities.

The Birdwood Mansion at Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville reopens in fall 2025 after renovations. This historic estate will feature luxury accommodations and a high-end culinary program led by international chefs.

Shenandoah Mansions in Richmond’s Fan District will debut as a 73-room boutique hotel in a restored 20th-century redbrick building, boasting cinematic interiors and vintage flair.

Chef’s Market opened in October 2024 in Newport News. The 17,000-sq.-ft. food hall includes a grilled cheese bar, taco bar, brewery, distillery, and shops selling meat, seafood, and baked goods, plus duckpin bowling and arcade games.

The National Museum of the United States Army at Fort Belvoir launches a major exhibit in June 2025. Titled CALL TO Arms: The Soldier and the Revolutionary War, the exhibit celebrates the Army’s 250th birthday and America’s 250th anniversary, showcasing more than 280 artifacts in 5,000 square feet.

Level99 opens at Tysons Corner Center in 2025 as an immersive adult playground. With more than 50 interactive physical and mental challenges, artistic installations, group gaming zones, and a bar and dining area, it’s the first experience of its kind in the region.

Allianz Amphitheater debuts in downtown Richmond in summer 2025. Located along the historic James River, the venue will host live concerts and performances in a scenic riverside setting.
