Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin has assured women and girls that he would protect them like a father. He said that his government would give prime importance to the safety of women and girl children in educational institutions and workplace. 

Stalin in  a statement on Friday which is also  the International Day for Elimination of Violence against women said, “ I will protect you not only as a Chief Minister but like a father.”

Chief Minister said that the government would establish four more POCSO (Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses) Act. The state has 16 POCSO courts already.

Stalin called upon educational institutions and firms not to cover up complaints and incidents of sexual offenses against women and girl children.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister called upon the authorities to act properly and responsibly. He called upon the sexual assault victims not to take any extreme step but to fight and bring the perpetrators before the law of the land.

Chief Minister said, “ Government will take action against whoever has exploited women sexually and gives utmost importance to protect children and women”.

Stalin said that the government has set a target to put an end to crime against women and children and said that the government has launched the state child policy 2021.

He said that administrators of educational institutions and firms should take appropriate action on complaints . He also called upon the teachers and heads of educational institutions not to cover up any incidents of sexual assault against children to protect the reputation of the institution.

Chief Minister appealed to the sexual assault survivors to contact the helpline ‘1098’.
