Prime minister Narendra Modi came down heavily against the DMK and said that senior party leaders who had rubbed shoulder to shoulder with Kalignar Karunanidhi feels suffocated in that party over the ascendency of the new “Crown Prince” .He was addressing a public gathering at Kanyakumari at the Vivekananda college grounds on Friday.
Narendra Modi said that politics of nepotism and dynasty does not have any role in democracy and said that politics must not be like this.
Coming down heavily against the Congress party, Modi said , “Congress does not believe in coalition dharma. It has revoked article 356 of the constitution and dismissed both DMK and AIADMK governments in Tamil Nadu.”
He said that while the focus of the BJP and NDA is governance and development ,opposition has reduced itself into dynastic love and securing positions for children and grand children. Prime minister said, “They are interested in the betterment of their children and grand children and not your children”.
Modi said that the NDA government at the centre has a strong track record of pro people and pro good governance. He also said that the NDA government has brought out of the box solutions to pressing problems.
Narendra Modi said, Rameswaram, Dhanushkodi railway line was damaged in 1964 and nothing happened and after 50 years our government started the work of rebuilding it”.
He also said that previous governments had ignored Pamban bridge and the NDA government has focused on reconstructing it.
Prime minister also said that the NDA government is for development and said ,” In this budget we commenced Mumbai Kanyakumari economic corridor and an amount of I lakh crore will be provided for infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu.”
Prime minister said that the ideology of BJP and NDA is “ Sab Ka Sath, Sab ka Vikas, Sab Ka Viswas”. He said ,”We don’t see people’s caste, creed or faith for doing development. “
Narendra Modi cited the example of how nurses from Kerala were rescued and brought home after they were abducted in Iraq. H e also narrated the example of Father Alexis Premkumar of Tamil Nadu who was abducted in Afghanisthan .Prime minister said ,” Father Alexis Premmkumar was from Tamil Nadu but he chose to serve in Afghanisthan and was abducted. There was no information of him for eighteen long months and even his family had given up hopes but Government of India rescued and brought him home and I personally spoke to his sister who was surprised and I still remember the interaction with her”.
Narendra Modi also said that more than 5 lakh people from Tamil Nadu were brought home from abroad by the Vande Bharat mission after they were struck following the Covid pandemic.
Modi said, “We did not ask what their caste or creed and we believe in the total development and support of people without any caste, creed or religious considerations.”
Prime minister spoke said that the government of India was for the development of farms, factories, fisheries sector and for coastal development .
Modi said ,”We are sensitive to the demands of our farmers and modernizing of agriculture sector and the MSP for Copra during our tenure is higher than UPA period. We are promoting better irrigation practices and for value addition of agriculture products. We are well on track to improve the life of farmers.”
He also said that the Government of India is for the development of small and medium industries, handi crafts, local artwork and handicrafts. He said ,”Temple jewelry is a GI project and they have the potential to become global players”.
Prime minister also said that previous governments never saw the coastal region as a strength of the country. Narendra Modi said,” Comprehensive approach to develop our coast and to empower fishermen is our main motto”.
He also said ,”We are increasing incomes through major push to blue economy , new fishing harbours, fish landing centres are coming up. Fishing harbor will come up in Chennai. Fishermen are getting better navigation materials.”
The Prime minister also said that the PM Matsya Sampada yojana has development work for Rs 20000 crore.
He said, “ There is a separate ministry for fishermen . I assure the fishermen that their safety is NDA , We ensured the release of fishermen from Sri Lanka and of this 40 fishermen and 4 boats were from Tamil Nadu”. He also said that no fishermen are currently in Sri Lankan custody.
He also said that the government is expanding water way network which will help ease of living for the fishermen community.
Prime minister called upon the people to vote for NDA candidates contesting in various constituencies and specifically said , “Thiru Pon Radhakrishnan is a candidate for the Kanyakumari loksabha by-election. He was a voice of Kanyakumari in parliament and please vote for him and make him victorious.”
