The single day fresh Covid cases crossed 1000 in the Union Territory of Puducherry for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020. The UT reported 1008 fresh cases on Sunday and 476 patients recovered in the last twenty four hours. 24 new deaths were reported on Sunday taking the fatality rate to 1.4% which is higher than the national average of 1.1%.
The territory has 7288 active cases on Sunday. Of these 7288 cases, 5901 are in home isolation and treatment.
Puducherry headquarters has the maximum number of cases with 815 followed by Karakkal at 101, Mahe 52 and Yanam 40. The death toll of Puducherry UT touched 748.
The Puducherry headquarters has the maximum fatalities with 598 followed by Karaikal (9), Yanam (45) and Mahe (13)
Directorate of Health and Family welfare on Saturday administered Covid-19 ,vaccine to 131 health care workers, 56 frontline workers and 990 others.
