Madurai police for second dose of vaccination to its personnel

Madurai city police have started taking effective preventive measures to fight the second wave of the Covid pandemic. The city policy has commenced a second round of vaccination to its 3500 strong personnel with 500 being inoculated a day.

Madurai city police commissioner Prem Anand Sinha while speaking to BPNS said, “ The police has already administered the first dose of vaccine to 96% of its personnel with 4% not given vaccines on the advice of the doctors based on their health conditions. The second round of vaccine will have 500 personnel getting vaccinated a day.”

He also said that all the police officials at the stations were briefed on the Covid -19 measures and have to be strictly followed. According to the guidelines issued by the City police commissioner, a police personnel should be there at the entrance of each police station and should ensure that people wear masks, keep social distance and sanitize themselves before entering the station. The temperature is also being checked.

The Madurai city police have already fined 28,639 people for not wearing masks Rs 57,27,800 has been received as fine amount. 221 cases were registered for not following social distancing measures and collected fine to the tune of Rs 1,10,500.

It may be noted that after the second wave of the pandemic, six police personnel in the city were tested positive. 3 of the six have recovered, 2 are in home isolation and one is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
