Three phase counting at Puducherry, results expected by 11pm

The Election Commission of India has made elaborate arrangements for counting at the Union Territory of Puducherry. The counting will commence at 8 am and will be conducted in three phases.

The election commission will update the round-wise trends of each constituency every few minutes and the results will be announced in its website, http://results.eci.gov.in. Results can also be accessed through the mobile application ,”Voter Helpline”.

The postal votes will be counted first followed by votes in the Electronic Voting Machines(EVM’s).  The counting will be conducted in three phases and in the first phase, twelve constituencies will be taken up for the first phase and the second phase will have ten constituencies and eight constituencies will be taken up for counting in the third phase.  Chief electoral officer Shurbir Singh said that the process is expected to be completed by 11 pm.

The main battle is between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by  All India NR Congress and the  Secular Progressive Alliance led by Congress party.

Exit polls had predicted victory for the NDA led by AINRC bagging 22 seats in the 30 member assembly.
