Chennai, June 10(IANS)

Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) youth leader and former Union Minister for Health, Dr.Anbumani Ramdoss MP has come out against sanctioning private liquor bars in Tamil Nadu.

He has written a letter to the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday calling for dropping the reported move to allow private bars in the state to increase revenue flow.

The PMK leader said that the DMK is going back on its promise of total prohibition which it had included in its election manifesto for the 2016 elections. He charged that if the DMK government is acting contrary to its slated position then PMK will have to oppose it on all counts.

The former Union minister said that allowing private bars would mean that these bars would commence functioning in residential areas and would create major law and order problems in the state. He also said that this would affect women and children.

Dr.Anbumani Ramdoss called upon the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, MK Stalin to implement the DMK’s total prohibition promise in the state.

It may be noted that there were reports on the Tamil Nadu government planning to bring in private bars across the state to boost up the economy of the state by increasing the revenue flow and tax revenue.
