Special team to nab former minister Manikandan on rape charges

The Chennai police have constituted a special team to trace former IT minister

M Manikandan who has been booked on charges of raping an actress of the false promise of marriage. It is to be noted that Manikandan’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Madras high court. The former minister is absconding ever since. Police sources said that special teams have been deployed to Madurai and Ramanathapuram to track Manikandan.

The former IT minister in the AIADMK government was booked two weeks ago by the All Woman’s Police, Adayar based on the complaint by the Malaysia based actress that she was continuously exploited by the former minister promising to marry her.

Police booked the former minister under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on charges of rape, causing miscarriage, and cheating. The actress alleged that in 2017 she met Manikandan and the minister promised her to do business jointly in Malaysia.  She had alleged and charged that she was forced by him to abort after becoming pregnant with him.
