Chennai, June 24(BPNS)
The Suburban train services in Chennai will now allow women in its train services without any time restrictions. Women will also be allowed to purchase return tickets for their travel while men working in the non-essential services will be allowed travel only during non-peak hours. Men working in the non-essential services will be able to travel in Sub Urban train services from 7.30 am to 9.30 am and from evening 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm.
A press release from the Southern Railways said that the new facilities would be implemented from Friday onwards.
Passengers with reserved tickets in mail/ express trains will be allowed permission to travel in Sub-urban trains to reach railway stations to board long distance trains. People who reach the city by mail/express trains will also be allowed to board sub-urban trains.
People who work in state government departments or Union government departments, public sector undertakings, high courts, and courts, and staff members of the private sector will be allowed to travel with a permission letter to work for duty from the higher officials and an identity card.
A fine of Rupees 500 would be foisted upon anyone who is seen in the railway station premises or in the trains without wearing face masks. Southern Railway would run more train services in a few day’s time.
