Puducherry Chief Minister allocates portoflio’s , is in charge of health, revenue and excise

The Puducherry Chief Minister, N Rangasamy has affected the much-awaited portfolio allocation and as desired by the BJP, the crucial home portfolio is allotted to the BJP leader A. Namasivayam.

The BJP was demanding the post of Deputy Chief Minister and Home to Namasivayam ever since the discussions for allocation of portfolio’s among the ministers commenced.

The Chief Minister will hold the major portfolios of revenue, health and family welfare , excise, general administration department, and cooperation. He will also be in charge of Hindu Religious institutions, Wakf Board, Local administration, Port, Science, Technology and Environment, Town and Country Planning and Information and Publicity.

A.Namasivayam will hold the charge of Electricity, Industries, and Commerce, Education including Collegiate Education and Sports and Youth affairs. He will also be in charge of Industry and Commerce and Sainik Welfare.

The second  representative of the BJP in the cabinet, A.K.Sai J.Saravana Kumar will be Civil Supplies and the Consumer Affairs minister as also the charges of DRDA, Community Development, Urban Basic Services, Fire Services, and Minority Affairs.

K. Laskhminarayanan of All India NR Congress(AINRC) will be the Public works minister while C. Djeacoumar will be holding charge of the Agriculture ministry. He will also be the minister for Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare, Forest and Wildlife, Social welfare, Backward Class welfare and Woman and Child development.

The woman minister in the cabinet, Chandira Priyanga will be the transport minister with additional charges of Adi Dravidar Welfare, Housing, Labour and Employment, Art and Culture and Economics and Statistics.

There were criticisms over the Chief Minister not allocating portfolios to the ministers with the opposition charging that the BJP was dictating terms with Rangasamy.

Earlier in the day, N Rangasamy had met the Lt Governor, Tamilisai Sounderrajan and provided the list of portfolios to the concerned ministers.
