The Madras High court suggested the Greater Chennai Corporation to form a dedicated team led by an IAS officer for the upkeep of the famous Marina beach in Chennai.

The court also asked the Greater Chennai Corporation and the state of Tamil Nadu as to how the Marina beach is being advertised as a tourist destination without properly maintaining it.

The division bench of the Madras High court also asked the Greater Chennai Corporation to provide the full details regarding the details of the schemes and measures being taken by the corporation or to be taken for the maintenance of the beach or to beautify it.
