TPR falls below 1percent in Puducherry on Monday

The Union Territory of Puducherry reported less than 50 fresh cases on Monday and the Test Positivity Rate(TPR) of the territory has come down to 0.8%. This is the first time in four months that the number of active cases in the Union Territory has come down to less than fifty fresh cases.

The Union territory, according to a statement from the Health and Family welfare department said that 42 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours ending at 10 am on Monday.

Active cases have come down to 1041 in the Union Territory and of the 858 patients are under home isolation and treatment.

Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum number of cases with 36 followed by Karaikal( 3), Yanam (2), and Mahe 1. The headquarters has also the maximum active cases with 829 followed by Karaikal(137), Mahe (55) and Yanam (20).

The Union Territory did not report any death on Monday and the total number of deaths touched 1778. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum number of deaths with 1415, Karaikal reported 223 deaths, Yanam 104 fatalities, and Mahe 36 deaths. Fatality rate is 1.5%.

The Union territory has reported 1.19 lakh cases of which 1.16 lakh cases recovered. The recovery rate in UT of Puducherry is 97.7% which is higher than the national average( 97.3%).

The health authorities have administered 6.39 lakh doses of Covid vaccine including the second dose. 14.32 lakh swab samples were tested of which 12.23 lakh swab samples tested negative.
