Chennai, August 6(IANS)

Even as the newly found bonhomie between the DMK and the AIADMK had come to an end following the Vigilance raids at the residence of former transport minister and AIADMK leader, Vijayabaskar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin paid his last respects to the departed AIADMK leader and former minister, Madhusudhanan at his Thondiarpet residence. In Tamil Nadu, hostilities were that high between the Dravidian parties, that it was uncommon for leaders of Dravidian parties paying last respects to the departed leaders of the opponent party.

Interestingly Stalin sat between the AIADMK leaders and former Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam.

Madhusudhanan who was the presidium chairman of the AIADMK since 2007, died at a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday. The AIADMK leader was undergoing treatment for sepsis and multi-organ dysfunction.

Stalin was accompanied by cabinet colleagues and DMK leaders, P.K.Sekar Babu and Ma Subramanian. Chief Minister consoled the bereaved family members of the departed leader.

Stalin said that Madhusudhanan was a close associate of both MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa and was the voice of the poor in the AIADMK. He said that the late leader was given big responsibilities by the AIADMK leadership and that was a clear indicator of the trust the leaders had bestowed upon him.
