Tamil Nadu prepared to tackle Third Covid -19 wave, Health minister

Tamil Nadu health minister, Ma Subramanian has said that the state government under the guidance of Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin is prepared to tackle a Covid -19 third wave if it happens.

In a statement on Monday, the minister said that 1 lakh beds with Oxygen supply and children’s wards are ready in the state to tackle the disease.

He said that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was giving high priority for Health and Family welfare and added that the state was a pioneer in protecting the people during the Covid -19 waves.

Ma Subramanian said that around 60% of the people who died after being infected due to Covid-19 died due to high blood pressure, diabetics, obesity, and other co-morbidities.

The minister said that the “Makkali Thedi Maruthuvam” scheme of the state health department bringing quality health care to the doorsteps of the people and launched by the Chief Minister Stalin at Krishnagiri district three days ago had already benefitted ,25,617 persons. The scheme mainly concentrates to provide health assistance to those with high diabetes and obesity.

The minister in the statement also said that Tamil Nadu was in the forefront in the country in terms of vaccinating pregnant women.
