Chennai, Sept 24 (BPNS)

The founder leader of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Dr. S. Ramadoss has said that the Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s promise to engage Tamil diaspora on civil war-related issues is a ‘political drama. In a statement of Friday, the senior PMK leader said that the Sri Lankan President is now taking such a stand after the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has intensified taking evidence of war crimes.

The PMK leader called upon the world nations to support and back the move to collect evidence on war crimes. He asked the Government of India to take measures to ensure that those who were involved in war crimes against Sri Lankan Tamils are punished.

In the statement, he also called upon the Government of India to pave the way for a separate Tamil Eelam through the United Nations.

It may be noted that the Tamil political parties have been vehemently demanding that there be a proper trial on the Sri Lankan Civil war in which several Tamil people had lost their lives.

Tamil politicians and political parties have been arguing that the then Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa was behind the Tamil ‘ genocide’ and that certain foreign forces had backed the then Sri Lankan government.
