Two government doctors were arrested by the police on Thursday after a woman colleague lodged a complaint that she was raped by the twosome during Covid quarantine during August at a private hotel where they were staying.
The two arrested doctors are Dr. S. Vetriselvan (35) and Dr. N. Mohanraj( 28). Both of them are remanded in judicial custody.
The woman doctor complained that the two doctors barged into her room at midnight while she was alone and forcefully raped her. She went on a long leave after this incident and rejoined service in October.
The flower Bazar police registered a case against the two doctors on Wednesday after the woman doctor had filed a complaint before the Chennai city police commissioner.
Station House Officer at the Flower Bazar police station while speaking to IANS said,” After we received the complaint, we did a detailed study of the CCTV visuals of the hotel room and found that the two doctors had barged into the room where the woman doctor was staying.”
The woman who went on a long leave after being traumatized told her parents about the incident and on the suggestion from the family lodged a complaint with the police. Police said that further investigations are on about the incident.
