Kamal Haasan bats for implementation of Right to Services Act

Superstar of South Indian movies and founder president of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), Kamal Haasan has urged the Tamil Nadu state government to implement the Right to Services Act with immediate effect.

In a statement on  Friday, the superstar turned political leader said that this would lead to delivery of several services in a time-bound manner which would lead to curbing corruption.

The MNM president said that this would deliver birth certificates, death certificates, legal heir certificates, and obtaining ration card in a time-bound manner, and reduce corruption. The actor, politician said that he prefer the government to enact it on Friday itself being the last day of the present assembly session.

Kamal Haasan said that the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court had in 2019 stressed upon the government to mull over enacting the Right to Service Act. He said that the DMK had also promised the enactment of  Right to Services Act in its election manifesto and the Governor had also in his address in the previous assembly session mentioned on it.

He said that 20 states in the country had enacted the Right to Services Act including Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, New Delhi. The superstar turned politician said that in Madhya Pradesh and Goa there were separate departments to monitor the delivery of services.

Kamal Haasan said that the Government of Tamil Nadu not enacting the Right to Services Act was totally disappointing and that the government must consider this seriously.
