Stalin lays foundation stone for new multispecialty hospital in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin has laid the foundation stone for a new multi-specialty hospital coming up at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine, Guindy.

The 500 bedded hospital to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 230 crore will have medical and surgical treatment in specialties as cardiology, neurology, oncology, hepatology, infectious diseases, blood science, oncology, and nephrology.

The Chief Minister had in 2021 announced during the birth anniversary of his father, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, that a multi-specialty hospital estimated to cost Rs 250 crore will be constructed at the premises of King Institute of Preventive Medicine which was then converted as Covid care centre.

The six-story structure is being built by the Tamil Nadu Public Works Department on 4.89 acres with a built-up area of 51,429 sq feet.

The stone laying function was attended by State health minister, Ma Subramanian, PWD minister, E.V. Velu, Chennai Mayor R. Priya, Chennai corporation councilors, Health secretary, J. Radhakrishnan, and other officials.
