Senior Congress leader of Kerala, Prayar Gopalakrishnan passes away

Senior leader of the Congress party in Kerala and former MLA, Prayar Gopalarkishnan (73) passed away at a private hospital at Vattapara near here on Saturday. The senior leader suffered a severe cardiac arrest while he was on his way to the state capital.

He represented Chadaymangalam assembly constituency in 2001 as the member of the legislative assembly.

While he was rushed to the SUT Hospital, Vattapara his life could not be saved.

Prayar Gopalakrishnan will always be remembered as the founder Chairman of MILMA, the state’s largest milk cooperative. As president of Travancore Dewaswom Board, he took a strong stand against the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple and was removed from the post by the then LDF government.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader V.D. Satheeshan, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala, and State education minister V. Sivankutty condoled the passing away of Gopalakrishnan.
