Kochi ,June 11 (BPNS)

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is in Kochi to attend a slew of programmes in the city is provided unprecedented security and Kochi police took into custody two transgenders who had reached the place wearing black clothes.

The transgenders said that they had reached the Kaloor Metro station to travel by train and police detained them and took them by force into police vehicles. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is facing protests across the state following the allegations by gold smuggling case accused, Swapna Suresh that the Chief Minister had carried a bag full of Indian currency during his Dubai trip. She also leveled serious allegations against the Chief Minister stating that the then Consul General of UAE in Thiruvananthapuram had regularly sent Biriyani from his official residence to the Chief Minister’s residence and that the Biriyani vessels had heavy metals stuffed inside in an obvious reference to gold being smuggled into.

The opposition Congress and the BJP are conducting protests across the state with marches turning violent in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and even in Kozhikode districts.

The Chief Minister is moving in a high-security cordon across the state and at Palarivattom in Kochi, the Chief Minister’s vehicles were seen parked in one way creating heavy traffic snarls and preventing even the movement of ambulances.

It may be noted that the state police had shunted out the DGP of Vigilance, M.R. Ajith Kumar in a hurried move after there were allegations that he had repeatedly called Shaj Kiran, a middle man who had spoken to the gold smuggling case accused Swapna and promised to help her out of the imbroglio.
