Fresh cases spirals, 11 districts with positivity rate above 10

After a gap of almost three months, the state’s daily Covid-19 case tally breached the 3000 mark. For the two consecutive days – June 14 and 15 – more than 3000 cases were reported. 

The cumulative case tally of the state stands at 18,345. 

At the same time, the union health ministry’s weekly district-wise positivity rate data that analyzed the trend between June 8 and 14, highlighted that 11 districts in the state have more than a 10 percent positivity rate.

Kottayam – 18.50

Kozhikode- 17.41

Ernakulam- 17.37

Thiruvananthapuram- 14.64

Pathanamthitta- 13.26

Thrissur- 12.64

Wayanad- 12.64

Kollam- 11.92

Alappuzha- 11.38

Kannur- 11.23

Idukki- 11.10

While Tuesday had 3488 cases, Wednesday reported 3419 cases. 

Of the total active cases,  Ernakulam had the most (5641) followed by Thiruvananthapuram (3664), Kottayam (2035), and Kozhikode (1572).

The other day, the ministry in a letter to states/union territories had reminded that Covid-19 has entered a new phase.  It further states that current epidemiology is characterized by a low but sustained incidence of mild cases with very low hospitalization and mortality rates. However, it stressed the need for early detection, isolation, testing, and timely management of suspected and confirmed cases.
