Chennai, Sept 30 (BPNS)

Madras High Court on Friday directed the Tamil Nadu police to allow the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to conduct the route march on November 6th. Justice Ilanthiraiyan of Madras High court directed the state police to grant permission to the RSS rally on November 6th.

The single bench judge was responding to a petition filed by the RSS Thiruvallur district joint secretary, R. Karthikeyan who had approached the court against the district administration banning the route march on October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi day.

The Tamil Nadu state police had later banned the route march on October 2, announced by the RSS at 50 places in the state citing the law and order situation. The state government informed the court that it fears of law and order situation in allowing RSS to take out a route march or procession immediately after the Union government banned the Popular Front of India (PFI), the Islamist outfit.

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the left parties, CPI and CPI-M had also planned to conduct a rally on October 2 to counter the RSS route march. However, the state government banned the rally planned by VCK and left parties also with the VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan lashing out against its ally , the DMK government.
