Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP, Dr. Shashi Tharoor said that his expectations are on the youth of the country.

Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Dr. Shashi Tharoor said that his expectations are on the youth of the country. He also said that he will not withdraw from the Presidential polls of the AICC.
Tharoor while speaking to media persons here on Thursday said, “ Rumours that I am going to withdraw is false, I will not withdraw .”
The Congress leader also said that he was drawing huge support from the party leaders and cadres and added that he was contesting the democratic polls in the Congress party to elect its president. Tharoor also said that as he was a democratically inclined person, he was not asking the other candidate to withdraw his candidature.
The senior Congress leader said that there was a need for a strong Congress party in the country to take on the BJP at the centre. Tharoor said that he wanted to change the Congress into a party of young India and that his support base was swelling by the day. He also said that the youth who are the future of the country was backing him and added that 65 percent of the population of the country are those below 35 and that his expectations are on this young generation.
He also said that the Gandhi family welcomed free and fair polls and that the family has not indicated support for any candidate. Tharoor said that party colleagues from across the country have urged him to contest the elections.
The senior Congress leader also said that he was getting good ground support from Tamil Nadu and that he is confident of the outcome of the polls.
Earlier Shashi Tharoor paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K. Kamaraj at their memorials.
