Stalin launches free breakfast scheme benefitting 4000 students in Dindigul district

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin on Wednesday launched a free breakfast scheme for school students in Palani, Dindigul district through videoconferencing from his camp office.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s office said that the scheme is applicable to students studying in two schools and four colleges that come under the state government body, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department.

The scheme according to the statement from the CMO will cover Palaniandavar Matriculation School, Arulmigu Dhanadayuthapani Swamy temple elementary school, Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts and Culture College, Arulmigu Palaniandavar Polytechnic college, Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts College for Women, Arulmigu Palani Dhanadayuthpani Swamy Arts and Science College for Women.

The statement said that the cost of the programme would be borne from the budget of the HR&CE department. Tamil Nadu HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekar Babu and state food minister R. Chakrapani were present during the inaugural function along with higher officials.

It may be noted that the DMK government under Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin launched the free break-fast scheme for school students in September 2022.  The Chief Minister had directed officials to run the scheme with utmost care and treat the children as their own and he had directed the students to focus more on academics and to reach higher heights.

The free breakfast scheme of the Tamil Nadu government is now benefitting a little above 1 lakh students and implemented in 1545 schools of the state.
