Two persons were killed and eight others sustained injuries after the minivan they were travelling rammed a tree along the Ulundurpet- Salem national highway in Sheikh Hussainpet in Kallakurichi district today (June 5, 2024).
The deceased are identified as Brinda (60) and her son Sivajothi (30) of Ponneri in Kancheepuram district.
Police said that Sivajothi was driving the minivan and on nearing the Sheik Hussainpet he lost control and the vehicle veered towards the end of the road and rammed a tree. Brinda and Sivajothi died on the spot.
Sivajothi’s wife Dhakshayini (27), their son Vedashree and six other relatives were injured in the accident. The injured are admitted at Government Villupuram Medical College Hospital.
Police said that they were travelling from Rameshwaram to Kancheepuram when they met with the accident.
