Nine people including school students who were on a tour to Ooty died in a road accident when a tourist bus in which they were travelling rammed into a KSRTC bus on Wednesday late night.

Nine people were killed including five students and 38 people injured when a tourist bus rammed into a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus on Wednesday late night at Mangalam in Palakkad district. The tourist bus, ‘Asura’ carrying students and teachers of Baselious Vidyanikethan School were heading to Ooty while the KSRTC bus was moving towards Coimbatore.
Five students, one teacher and three passengers in KSRTC bus lost their lives. 38 people are admitted to various hospitals in Wadakkanchery and Palakkad. The condition of five people are serious, Police said.
The driver of the bus Joemon is missing. Kerala State Minister for Transports, Antony Raju said that the bus was overspeeding and according to information the bus was traveling at a speed of 97.5 km /hour.
