Chennai, July 13 (BPNS)
The Madras High Court on Wednesday decided to hear the cases filed by AIADMK leader Edappady K. Palaniswamy and expelled leader, O. Panneerselvam challenging the sealing of party office in regular course of time.
Justice N. Sathish Kumar told the petitioners that the court Registry will have to run through Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as both Edappady K. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam are Members of the Legislative assembly.
The Judge said that both petitions went through the regular procedures when the counsel representing Edappadi K. Palaniswami asked for an urgent hearing of the matter on Wednesday.
The advocate for Edappadi Palaniswami requested the judge to list the matter for Thursday and to hear the case when the judge said that the counsel of O. Panneerselvam, Rajalakshmi had also moved a similar prayer and hence both the cases must be listed and go through the registry.
The general council meeting of the AIADMK held on July 11 led to chaotic scenes before the party headquarters with the supporters of O. Panneerselvam forcing their way into the headquarters and clashing with the supporters of Edappadi K. Palaniswami. The RDO along with the local police arrived at the scene and sealed the office.
EPS and OPS have filed the petition in the court for opening the party headquarters.
