Brutal murder of Muslim League worker Manzoor turns Kannur red

The CPM which was lying low till elections were over murdered a Muslim League worker Manzoor at Peringathur in Kannur district. Kannur which has witnessed several political murders since the early 1970’s is continuing unabated with the CPM on one side in almost all the murders and brutal physical attacks.

Kannur District Police Suprentiendent Elango has categorically stated that the murder was “Political”.  The murder politics of Kannur if not contained will lead to a chain of political violence and Manzoor is the latest victim of the CPM ire. Muslim League worker Ariyil Shukoor was murdered after he was identified by the CPM killer squad in Taliparamba in Kannur district a few years before. CPM then Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan and TV  Rajesh MLA were arrested for conspiracy to murder and jailed. However both the leaders are now out in bail.

CPM again killed a Congress worker, Shuhaib at Mattanur in Kannur district brutally and it was followed by the twin murder of Youth Congress workers, Kripesh and Sarathlal at Periya in Kasargod district.

The CPM was involved in almost all political killings in Kannur and more than 200 RSS workers were brutally killed by the CPM. There were several instances of RSS giving tit for tat to the CPM.

Congress working president and Member of Parliament from Kannur ,K Sudhakaran in a public speech said, “CPM leader Panoli Valsan is directly responsible for this murder. Police have to take criminal case against this CPM leader.”

The funeral procession of Manzoor turned violent in several areas of Panoor in Kannur district. The CPM Peringathur local committee office was burnt by a group of unidentified men and several CPM offices were under attack.

Meanwhile CPM Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan condemned the murder and said that the CPM was not responsible for the murder. CPM state acting secretary A Vijayaraghavan also dismissed the CPM role in the murder and said that the party had already communicated to its cadres and local leaders not to get involved in any physical intimidation.

People of the state are worried on the murder and expects CPM to indulge in wide spread attacks if the party loose the assembly elections.
