Chennai, May 30 (BPNS)
Tamil Nadu state Congress president and senior leader KS Alagiri on Sunday said that he supports the view of the Tamil Nadu finance minister, PTR Thiagarajan that the “One State- One Vote” in GST was unfair.
Alagiri in a statement said that treating higher revenue states and lower revenue states at par was unfair and added that the central government was taking a biased stance and politicising the views expressed by the non-BJP ruled states.
The senior Congress leader alleged that under Prime minister Narendra Modi’s rule, the rights of the states were taken away, despite promises of cooperative federalism.
The TNCC President also said that in the recent GST council meeting, the centre ignored the state’s demand for extension of GST compensation period, which was to end in 2022, by a period of another five years.
The senior Congress leader strongly condemned the centre for its bias in settling the dues and said that such an attitude would affect the policy of federalism.
