Chennai, June 7(BPNS)

AIADMK leader and former minister CVe Shanmugham has said that the former interim general secretary of the party, VK Sasikala does not have any role in the party and that she is not a member of the organization. He was speaking to reporters at the party office in Villupuram on Monday.

The senior leader said that the AIADMK was a cadre-based party and that it has its commitment towards the party rank and file. The former minister said that when the late MG Ramachandran had founded the AIADMK he had clearly mentioned that the strength and pillars of the party are its grass-roots cadres.

CVe Shanmugham said that after the passing away of MGR several leaders who had claimed to be the face of the AIADMK had faded into oblivion and that it was a clear message that party was important and not individuals. The former minister said that Sasikala was an aide at the house of Amma (J Jayalalithaa) and that she did not have had any connection with the AIADMK as a political party.

The senior leader said that Sasikala’s leaked voice clips on taking over of AIADMK was not to be taken seriously and that she doesn’t have any clout in the party for such a move.

The former minister said that the party would stand like a rock against any moves of those who claim to represent the party’s interest and added that even if many  Sasikala’s come nothing will happen to AIADMK.
