Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1 (BPNS)

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State for External affairs, V. Muraleedharan has come out strongly against the alleged decision of the Kerala government to deny a DLitt to the President of India, Ramnath Kovind.

The Union minister termed the decision of the state government if true was a shame. It may be noted that senior leader of the Congress party and former Opposition leader, Ramesh Chennithala had alleged that the state government had sabotaged the recommendation by the Governor to confer a DLitt on President, Ramnath Kovind.

Muraleedharan while speaking to reporters at Thrissur on Saturday said that more clarity was required on the DLitt conferment from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The union minister asked the Chief Minister as to whether the state government had taken a decision not to confer DLitt to the President.

He said that this was a clear example of anti-Dalit stand of the Kerala government and said that the incident has brought shame to the country and gone to the extent of humiliating the President of the country.

Meanwhile BJP Kerala state president K. Surendran has also come out strongly against the alleged decision of the state government not to confer DLitt to the President of the country. He said that the Chief Minister must come out with details of the incident and not keep the people of the state in the dark.
