The Tamil Nadu police have commenced the hunt for a gang who had barged into the residence of a Doctor at Oddanchatram in Dindigul district of the state and robbed 280 sovereigns of gold kept in the house after tying the inmates.
According to the police, Shaktivel, a leading Doctor at Oddanchatram, his wife, and his parents were sleeping at the house when the gang barged in through the rear. They entered the home at around 3.30 am on Tuesday and tied up all the four inmates and make good the escape after looting the gold and the SUV parked in the portico of the home.
The inmates of the home told Police that the gang spoke, English, Hindi, and Tamil and had covered their faces with hoods and wearing overcoats.
Oddanchatram police said that the gang had conducted a proper reconnaissance of the place before conducting the operation. Police dogs have been pressed into service and senior police officers of South Tamil Nadu including Additional Director General of Police are leading the investigation. Police said that a special police team is constituted under the Dindigul Superintendent of Police and investigation is on.
