Tamil Nadu Fibre Net Corporation Ltd has entered into a Master Service Agreement (MSA) with Polycab India Ltd for implementing BharatNet Phase II in the state for providing high-speed internet connectivity to 3095-gram panchayats in Chennai suburbs and eight other districts.
The project will benefit gram panchayats in Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Ranipet, Tirupathur, and Chennai under Package A through which rural areas can access 1 GPS bandwidth.
The agreement will make assess to digital services such as e-education, telemedicine, triple pay services (Telephone, Television, and Internet connection) affordable to common public in rural areas of the state.
The state minister for Information Technology Mano Thangaraj while speaking to BPNS said, “ This will allow government offices, public institutions, schools, colleges, and industries to use high-speed bandwidth to deliver citizen-centric services at village level and help create jobs.”
BharathNet Phase II Project envisages connecting 12,525 Gram panchayats in Tamil Nadu with high-speed bandwidth after the Centre approved the project at an estimated cost of Rs 1,815.31 crore.
