Thiruvananthapuram, June 15 (H.S.)
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan will not be available to meet visitors until June 19 as he is immersed in the final preparations for the UDF government’s maiden State Budget, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) announced on Monday.
In a statement, the CMO said members of the public, party workers and other visitors would be unable to meet the Chief Minister in person during this period. Expressing regret for the temporary inconvenience, the office sought the cooperation and understanding of the public.
According to the statement, Satheesan is engaged in intensive consultations and deliberations connected with the Budget, which is expected to be presented in the State Assembly later this week. The government views the Budget as a key policy document that will set the direction for Kerala’s development and welfare agenda over the coming years.
“The Chief Minister is engaged in the crucial task of finalising a Budget aimed at ensuring the comprehensive development of the State and the welfare of its people. Therefore, he will not be in a position to meet visitors directly until June 19,” the statement said.
The CMO noted that the Budget preparation process demands the Chief Minister’s full attention and appealed for public support during this period.
The upcoming Budget will be the first full-fledged financial statement presented by the Satheesan-led UDF government since it assumed office last month. Government sources indicated that the Budget is likely to be framed around the theme of “Good Governance and Compassion” and will outline the administration’s priorities in welfare, infrastructure, employment generation and public services.
The Budget is also expected to provide the financial framework for implementing the government’s flagship “Indira Guarantee” commitments announced during the Assembly election campaign. Officials said it would reflect the government’s broader vision for accelerating economic growth while strengthening social welfare measures across the State.
