Kuthuparamba: Few teachers embody the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline and social commitment as effectively as Rasna Kuunumbron, a former state-level gymnast who has transformed her passion for athletics into a mission of nurturing responsible citizens.
Born and brought up in Kuthuparamba, Rasna made a name for herself during her school days as one of Kerala’s promising gymnasts. Representing the state in various competitions, she earned recognition for her agility, determination and competitive spirit. Her achievements on the gymnastics arena brought laurels not only to her hometown but also to Kerala’s sporting community.
Today, Rasna serves as a Physical Education Teacher at a government school in Kuthuparamba, where she continues to inspire students through sports and fitness. Her journey from an accomplished athlete to an educator reflects her belief that sports can play a vital role in character building and personal development.
Beyond the playground, Rasna has emerged as a committed social crusader. As a coordinator of the Kerala Government’s prestigious Student Police Cadet (SPC) programme, she has been actively involved in shaping students into disciplined, socially responsible citizens. The SPC project is aimed at developing civic consciousness, leadership qualities and resistance to social evils, including drug and substance abuse.
Recognising the growing threat posed by narcotics among youngsters, Rasna has spearheaded awareness campaigns and anti-drug initiatives in schools and local communities. Through counselling sessions, awareness classes and student engagement programmes, she has consistently advocated a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
For her students, Rasna Kuunumbron is more than a teacher. She is a mentor, role model and community leader whose life story continues to inspire young minds to dream big, stay disciplined and serve society.
