MADURAI, AUG 3: Speculation over South Indian actor Trisha’s possible entry into politics has resurfaced after posters purportedly issued by a newly formed Trisha Welfare Association appeared across Madurai, indirectly urging the actor to take the political plunge.
The posters, which have drawn attention in political and film circles, describe Madurai as “the soil where every political party has its roots” and project the temple city as the starting point for the association’s activities. They also claim that the Trisha Welfare Association is the first such organisation to have received recognition from the Tamil Nadu government.
However, there is no official confirmation that the association was formed with Trisha’s knowledge or consent. Though the posters carry registration number 53/2026, they do not mention the names or designations of its office-bearers. Instead, photographs of around seven men dressed in white shirts feature on the posters.
The development comes amid continuing speculation over Trisha’s political plans. Her frequent public appearances with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, including her presence at his swearing-in ceremony following the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s victory in the Assembly elections, had earlier triggered discussions on social media about her possible entry into politics.
Trisha has, however, publicly denied having any affiliation with the TVK. The actor had not issued any clarification regarding the latest posters until the time of going to print.
When contacted, Madurai South Vijay Makkal Iyakkam president and TVK MLA S.R. Thangapandi said he was unaware of the association or the posters and declined further comment.
Madurai has historically been a major centre of Tamil Nadu’s film fan-club culture, where several organisations formed around popular actors later acquired political overtones. Against this backdrop, the emergence of an association in Trisha’s name has added fresh momentum to speculation about her political future.
