The Kerala government has sanctioned Rs 14.40 crore to continue rehabilitation and welfare measures for Endosulfan victims in Kasaragod district under its comprehensive ‘Snehasanthwanam’ package.
The administrative sanction has been accorded through the Social Justice Department from provisions made in the State Budget for the 2026-27 financial year, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Saturday.
A substantial portion of the allocation will go towards direct financial assistance to Endosulfan-affected people and their caregivers, while funds have also been earmarked for education and rehabilitation facilities.
Of the total amount, Rs 9.84 crore has been set aside to provide monthly financial assistance to 5,208 existing beneficiaries for the period from April 2026 to March 2027. The government has allocated another Rs 2.64 crore for around 1,000 additional beneficiaries expected to be included in the eligible list.
The package also provides Rs 64.76 lakh under the ‘Aswasakiranam’ scheme for monthly assistance to 771 caregivers looking after Endosulfan-affected persons.
As part of efforts to strengthen educational and social support for affected families, Rs 10.05 lakh has been sanctioned to provide educational benefits to 400 children during the 2026-27 academic year.
The government will also spend Rs 1.16 crore on upgrading infrastructure and improving services at 10 Model Child Rehabilitation Centres in the affected region. The centres provide rehabilitation and support services to children requiring specialised care.
The CMO said the latest allocation was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted financial, educational and caregiving assistance to Endosulfan-affected families in Kasaragod.
The ‘Snehasanthwanam’ package is designed to address the long-term requirements of victims and their families through a combination of monthly financial assistance, caregiver support, educational benefits and improved rehabilitation facilities.
