The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert in the Wayanad, Kasargod, and Kannur districts of Kerala for the next 24 hours following heavy rains. The Weather department has forecasted that these districts will receive heavy showers today night.
The Orange alert indicated very heavy rainfalls from 115.6 mm to 204. mm in the next 24 hours.
All the other 11 districts of the state are placed under Yellow alert on Wednesday. The Kerala Disaster Management Authority has alerted the people residing in low-lying areas, river banks, and hilly areas that are prone to landslips to be on extreme alert.
The Kerala Police and the Kerala Fire and Rescue Department are also put on high alert along with the volunteers as the rains could be heavy on Tuesday and Wednesday in the three districts.
